Life and Death’s Thuishaven ADE takeover made a magical return for its fifth annual edition

Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) made its celebrated return this year from Wednesday, October 19 through Sunday, October 23. The event was a major success, and amongst the program’s epic whirlwind of concerts and panels was the fifth annual Life and Death label takeover of the vaunted Thuishaven venue on Friday, October 21.

It was the first Life and Death x ADE party since 2019 (following two years off due to COVID restrictions) and the night’s festivities lived up to its storied reputation. Past Life and Death x Thuishaven takeovers have included lineups with names such as 2ManyDJs, DJ Seinfeld, Axel Boman, Leon Vynehall, and more.

This year’s Life and Death x ADE party, which was once again backdropped by Thuishaven’s circus-inspired space, featured both a daytime and nighttime portion, split across three stages. The lineup included a vibrant roster of genre-bending DJ/producers, such as the versatile Dutch-native Carista, soul-infused house purveyor Hunee, renowned German DJ Gerd Janson, Turkish DJ/celllist Carlita, big-beat acid trio BĘÃTFÓØT, who delivered a highlight worthy live performance, and DJ Tennis himself, who performed a legendary B2B set with Demi Riquisimo.

The night’s crowd had unbelievable energy, as they were undoubtedly impressed by the likes of newcomer Suze Ijó and Amsterdam locals KAMMA and Masalo. The rest of the remarkable lineup was rounded out by kaleidoscopic producer Sebra Cruz, disco connoisseur CC DISCO!, Italian house/techno producer Whitesquare, Israeli DJ Mono, and Dutch mainstays Carlos Valdes and Kléo

Of course, the Thuishaven venue itself was a major contributor to the evening’s magical atmosphere. From the incredible light coordination, to the space’s textural and infrastructural oddities, Thuishaven’s idiosyncrasies have always provided a synergy with Life and Death’s surrealist, deconstructed dance music values.
